Connect Power BI to your RankRise results
Three tables, refreshed once a day, in your own Power BI report. It takes about 10 minutes.
What you get
Section titled “What you get”Three tables, each refreshed once a day:
- Google rankings. Where each of your tracked pages ranks on Google, week by week.
- AI answers. How often ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity mention you for each question, month by month. Google’s own AI answer is in here too.
- Google share. How much of the first page of Google is yours, compared with your competitors, week by week.
Each refresh brings the full history, so your trend lines stay complete.
Your key
Section titled “Your key”In the app, open Workspace settings, then Connected apps. Under Your keys, type a Key name such as Power BI and choose Make a key. Copy it now. We show it once.
The key starts with rrm_. It can only read your results. It can’t change anything.
Step 1: save the key as a parameter
Section titled “Step 1: save the key as a parameter”Put the key in one place, so you only ever change it there.
- In Power BI Desktop, open Transform data.
- Choose Manage Parameters, then New Parameter.
- Name it
RankRiseKey. Set the type to Text. Paste your key as the value. - Click OK.
Step 2: add the three tables
Section titled “Step 2: add the three tables”-
Still in Transform data, choose New Source, then Blank Query.
-
Open Advanced Editor, and replace what is there with this:
let Source = Web.Contents( "https://app.rankrise.com.au/feed/google-rankings", [Headers = [Authorization = "Bearer " & RankRiseKey]] ), Table = Csv.Document(Source, [Encoding = 65001]), WithHeaders = Table.PromoteHeaders(Table, [PromoteAllScalars = true]) in WithHeaders -
Click Done, and name the query Google rankings.
-
Do the same twice more. Change the last part of the address each time:

Step 3: set the daily refresh
Section titled “Step 3: set the daily refresh”Once you publish the report, set a scheduled refresh of once a day in the Power BI service. Our numbers change at most once a day, so more often gains nothing.
Two things to know
Section titled “Two things to know”Leave Google’s AI answer out of the main AI score. In the AI answers table, filter counts_in_answer_rate to yes before you work out how often the AI tools mention you. That gives the same percentage you see in the RankRise app. The no rows are Google’s AI answer, which the app shows separately.
Join to your own traffic on the page. Both the Google rankings table and the AI answers table have a page_path column, such as /your-page. The same web address ending appears in Google Analytics. So you can match a page’s rankings and AI mentions to its visits and conversions.
